About converting files.
Which conversions work?
50 conversions have their own page under /convert, and the endings work on any file whose format can become the one you ask for. A link answers 404 with the endings that do work when one does not.
Does it cost anything?
No. Converting is free for everyone, with daily allowances per visitor so the service stays up for all. A free account keeps your files for good; Pro takes files up to 5 GB each.
Is the quality the same as the original?
Documents convert as they print, pictures keep their size, and video keeps its resolution. Converting a picture to JPG puts a white background behind any transparency.
How long does a converted file stay?
As long as the original: a visitor's file for 30 days, an account's for as long as the link lives. Each version is made once and served from the copy after that.
Can I convert without sharing the file?
Every file you drop sits at a short link, so it can be opened by anyone who has it. Nobody is given the link but you, and a file is deleted a day after its link expires. On an account, you can set the link to expire or delete it as soon as you have your download.
What about programs and archives?
Programs and installers are refused for everyone. Archives (zip, tar) need an account.
