Links
Changing, renaming and keeping links.
How do I change where a link goes?
Open the link in your dashboard, paste the new destination and save. The short link and its QR code stay the same, so printed codes follow within a minute.
Can I rename a link after sharing it?
Yes. Change the ending in the link's settings. The old ending keeps working and counts towards the same stats, so nothing you shared breaks.
Do links expire?
Not unless you set an expiry. Links keep redirecting on every plan, the free one included, until you switch them off or delete them. Any link can take an expiry date and a page to send people to afterwards. A free account keeps up to 100 links.
Can I see where a short link goes before I open it?
Yes. Add a plus to the end, like snip.link/menu+, and you see the destination without visiting it. It works on every Snip link, not just your own.
Can one link send iPhone and Android users to different places?
Yes, on every plan. Add routing rules in the link's settings, by device or by the visitor's country. The first rule that matches wins, and everyone else goes to the main destination.
Can I add many links at once?
Yes, on every plan. Choose Import on Links and paste one link per line, or a CSV with a url column and optional endings and titles. Each row is checked before anything is created, and you can copy every new short link at the end.
Can I add UTM tags to a link?
Yes. The link form has a UTM builder that writes the tags into the destination as you type. Turn on query passthrough in a link's settings and any tags on the short link itself, like ?utm_source=newsletter, are passed on too.
Will Snip tell me if a link stops working?
Yes. Every link's destination is checked every few days. When a page stops answering or is gone, the link is marked Not working and you get an email. Turn these link alerts off in Settings.
Which emails does Snip send?
A welcome email when you join, a note when your account is close to its plan's link limit, and an email when a link's destination stops working. The last two are link alerts, which you can turn off in Settings.
Do link previews and bots count as clicks?
No. When a link is pasted into iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack or a social app, the app fetches it to draw a preview. Those fetches, crawlers, scripts and browser prefetches are left out, and a refresh loop cannot inflate the count. Clicks and scans are people.
Why do my numbers differ from another tool's?
Usually because the other tool counts the fetches apps make to draw link previews, or crawlers, which are left out here. Dates are also in UTC, so a click late in your evening can land on the next day.
I deleted a link by mistake. Can I get it back?
No. Deleting removes the link, its endings and its stats for good. Switching a link off instead keeps everything and can be undone.
QR codes
Codes that keep working.
Will my QR code stop working?
No. A QR code made from a Snip short link keeps working as long as the link does, and you can change where it goes without reprinting. Codes from the QR code generator hold the content itself and never expire.
Which file should I send to a printer?
SVG. It is a vector file, so it stays sharp at any size, and print shops prefer it. PDF when you just want to print it from any computer. Use PNG for screens, slides and documents.
Account and billing

Do I need an account?
No. Anyone can shorten up to 10 links a day and make QR codes without signing up. A free account keeps your links, lets you change them later and shows their clicks and scans.
How do I cancel?
Open Billing, choose Billing portal and cancel there. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to Free and your links keep working.
What happens to my links if I stop paying?
They keep redirecting. Past the Free plan's limits you cannot add new links until you are under them again. Pro is $4/month.
Can I download my links and data?
Yes, on every plan. Export CSV on Links gives every link with its settings and click totals, and Settings has one file with everything in your account.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, on Pro: up to 5, like go.yourbrand.com. Add it under Domains and point one DNS record at us. Endings that do not exist can go to a page you choose.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings and choose Delete account. Any subscription is cancelled, your links stop working and your data is removed. It cannot be undone, so download your data first if you want a copy.
Safety
Harmful links and safety holds.
How do I report a harmful link?
Use the report form. Every report is reviewed, and links confirmed harmful are switched off for everyone.
My link says it is switched off for a safety review. What now?
Every destination is checked against known phishing and malware lists, then checked again later. If a check flagged a page by mistake, email hello@snip.link with the short link and we will look at it.
